NOTE ON DESIGNING FOR THE CD LABEL: I use this template when I design in Adobe Illustrator. It is an eps file so you can open it in Photoshop as well. Basically I "Place" (FILE > PLACE) an image onto my illustration. Then I "Send To Back" (OBJECT > ARRANGE > SEND TO BACK) the image. While my "placed file" is selected, I simultaneously select the outer ring of the CD label and make a "Mask" (OBJECT > MASKS > MAKE). This puts your picture or "placed file" behind everything which needs to be knocked out and clips the outer edge perfectly. |

| A note about the on CD printing process:
The disc printing process that is used by us and basically all other manufacturers is a SCREEN PRINTING process (Just like T-shirts, only with a finer mesh) Sometimes, fine details can be lost in silkscreen printing because of the nature of the process. Elements of a design that are too small may end up not passing through the mesh, leaving the ink on top. There really is not much that can be done to improve this process, so we encourage people to design their discs with this in mind. We do offer OFFSET PRINTING on CD as well (it looks SWEET!), but that's only for quantities above 2000. Ask us about additional charges for this process. Please keep all font sizes at 6 point or larger! TO SEND US FILES ELECTRONICALLY: |
